Mastering Nutanix AOS Updates (STS, eSTS and LTS)

The AOS version has reached the expected maturity level as of version 6.10, where only subsequent versions will be considered LTS.

Therefore, it is important to understand better what impact each version will have on your production environment and also verify full compatibility with the installed version of Prism Central and, if not, check if it is possible to install a compatible version before updating AOS.

In the Enterprise Cloud software market, to cater to our customers environment needs, we have 3 types of releases:

• Short Term Support (STS) releases – New features, and provides a regular upgrade path
• Extended Short Term Support (eSTS) release – New features, and provides extended maintenance term compared to STS 
• Long Term Support (LTS) release – Primarily bug fixes and is maintained for a longer support term duration
